Andrew Ashenden is an Equity registered fight director and has been on the register now for nearly 14 years. He has worked in television and theatre, including BBC Wales, Birmingham Stage Company, the National Theatre of Wales, Chapterhouse Theatre Company plus a number of shows in around London and Europe. He is also one of the founding members for the Academy of Performance Combat (A.P.C) an organisation formed in September 2009 and was recognised by the Equity Fight director committee in 2009 as a training body. Within the organisation he is the exam coordinator and an APC examiner.

Andrew is also the resident fight teacher for the following drama schools; GSA (Guildford school of Acting) for nearly twenty years, Lincoln University, the Bridge theatre training company and the Musical Theatre course at the Royal Academy of Music.

" I’ve taught at Arts Educational in London on the evening courses, LAPA (London Academy of Performance Art) from 1998 to 2005 and I am co-founder of Workshop Cardiff."

As well as fight direction and fight teaching, Andrew is also the author of The Basics of Stage combat range of books. Book 1 covers Unarmed and book 2 covers Single Sword. Both are published through Universal Publishers. As a director he has directed a number of productions for chapterhouse Theatre Company and occasionally also works as an actor.
